Review: Nivea Lip Butters – Pretty Darn Amazing

It’s a lovely 16 degrees here in Maryland today, and with 40 mph winds, temperatures are going to drop into the negatives. This sudden blast of cold means dry skin and chapped lips, so it’s a good thing Santa brought me a variety pack of the Nivea Lip Butters to use for the rest of the winter.

I got five different varieties of lip butters in the pack – two stick butters and three in tins. And after using them for a few weeks I have to say, these are amazing!

I am a fan of the EOS lip balms, but the Nivea Butters seem to moisturize even better. You do have to reapply on a somewhat regular basis to keep the moisture, but really that’s true of any moisturizing lip product. The butters also absorb well into the lip without leaving residue behind.

The scent of the Raspberry Rose Kiss (smells like candy) is my favorite, but all five of the butters smell nice enough. The tubes are especially are nice for travel because, like a lipstick, they go up and down in the tube and you don’t have to use your fingers to apply as with the tins.

In fact, I’ve been reaching for the pink Kiss of Shimmer tube a lot lately because it is as moisturizing as the other butters but, it also has a glittery sheen to it, like a light lip gloss.

The rest of this winter is leading up to harsh one, so it’s a good thing I am stocked up on lip butters to get me through till spring.

What’s your favorite moisturizing lip product? Are you a Nivea fan?

I love the Raspberry Rose – I like to apply it heavily at night to work its magic while I’m sleeping! I also have the vanilla & macadamia nut kiss and it smells like cookies to me! :)

:) It works so well. I’d say I’d buy the vanilla when I run out but, I think I have my hands full with the lip butters I have. lol.

Oooo looks like I’ll need to try these! I can’t get enough of lip balms in the winter. My recent go-to’s have been the new Chapstick hydration lock (thanks Birchbox) and the EOS lip blams. I’ve heard that the Jo Malone lip conditioner is to die for — but it’s a little pricey.

    thanks for sharing!

Jo Malone makes a lip product?! Must try it…

Yeah, I like the EOS lip balms too. The egg shape is such a cute novelty to me. :)

I am obsessed with these! I go through the tins like mad but I had no idea they were now in a tube form! I’m going to be on the hunt for those immediately!

    • Sam January 3, 2014 / 5:21 pm

Yeah! I really like to put the tubes in my purse. The shimmer one is one of my favorites!

I’ve always been curious about the Nivea lip butter tins. I’ve banned myself from purchasing more makeup :-( Except I’m going to IMATS in a few weeks and I know I’ll buy something there. Everything is tempting me lately. Sigh… But they’ve been on my wishlist for a while now.

It’s when you don’t buy new products in favor of rediscovering things that you have and haven’t used in awhile in your own makeup stash. ;)

Oh! I think that’s a great idea! I guess I’ve been doing that and didn’t know it was called that lol. I’ve been banning myself from buying any new makeup for awhile until I finish some stuff up. Having a beauty blog makes you want to buy more makeup lol.

I got the raspberry rose tin for Christmas as well, and I love it!!!

EOS lip balms are great, maybe i should try these ones… i had bad experience some years ago – i bought Nivea lip balm, but my lips got more dry and i had allergic reaction. I still believe it was only for that moment… because Nivea as brand is very good!

    • Sam January 3, 2014 / 5:25 pm

Oh no! You might want to stay away from them then! The chemicals in it must not have worked well with your body. :/

      • bohocadence January 4, 2014 / 4:55 am

But that`s the thing – before i had this bad experience i used only Nivea lip butters… maybe they made new formula which caused the reaction. Anyway, i should try to use it again – maybe this time everything will be allright! :) And thanks!

I like to use a drop of jojoba oil when my lips are desperately dry – works perfectly!

They look really fresh :) haven’t tried them but the packaging is a winner for me!

    • Sam January 3, 2014 / 5:26 pm

They are pretty. The tins can be a pain in the butt when your hands are cold though!

Vanilla and Macadamia Kiss is heavenly ! Although it doesn’t looks as though you need any more lip butters , you’re set for about fifty years !

    Namaste,

      ROFL I definitely agree!

Nivea lip products are awesome! The one in the dark blue tube is the most moisturising. I think so anyway ;)

Ohhh I hope they have the raspberry rose in Australia! I’ll be keeping my eye open for that :)
